Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies

These blondies are basically just a thicker, fudgier version of chocolate chip cookies. The flavors of nutty brown butter mixed with the chocolate and perfect amount of salt make these the most addicting sweet treat.

Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies

Prep time: 20 MinCook time: 40 MinTotal time: 1 Hour

  • 1 cup/8 oz Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 2 cups AP Flour
  • 1 tsp Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 2 oz Bitter-sweet Chocolate, finely chopped

  1. To brown the butter, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Once the butter melts, let it bubble up, continuously stirring.
  3. After about 5-7 minutes the butter should start to darken and turn light brown. At that point immediately take it off the heat and pour into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes then whisk in brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  5. Switch from a whisk to a spatula and mix in flour, salt, and chocolate.
  6. The batter should be thicker than brownie batter, but not as thick as cookie dough.
  7. Spread the batter in an 8x8 inch pan lined with parchment paper and cooking spray.
  8. Bake at 350F for about 40 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden and the top is just set.
  9. Let it sit in the pan for about 10 minutes then transfer to a wire cooling rack.
  10. Allow it to come to room temperature before cutting.
