Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger, grated
  • 2 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 TB Mirin
  • 1 TB Corn Starch, dissolved in 1 TB of water
Crispy Beef
  • 1 pound Flank Steak, cut into thin strips
  • 1 cup Corn Starch
  • 4 cups Vegetable Oil
  • Sesame Seeds, for garnish

  1. To make the teriyaki sauce, combine all ingredients in a medium pot.
  2. Whisk together over medium-high heat until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce has thickened.
  3. For the beef, heat the oil in a large pot to 350F.
  4. Toss the beef in the cornstarch so the strips are evenly coated.
  5. Shake off any excess cornstarch and fry the beef, working in batches, for about 3 minutes.
  6. Transfer fried beef to a paper towel lined mixing bowl.
  7. Once all the beef is fried, remove the paper towels and pour over the teriyaki sauce.
  8. Toss beef with the sauce and finish with sesame seeds.
